Features
Everything a client site needs, nothing it does not.
The core
The core
A compiled Rust binary for Linux (x86_64 and ARM64) and macOS on Apple silicon. It serves the public site, the admin and the API, runs scheduled jobs, and updates itself by swapping in a signed release.
- One executable per site, Postgres as the only dependency
- Pages rendered on the server, fast on any connection
- Self-updates from the admin, with a backup first
The page builder
The page builder
Sections, columns and widgets, edited on the live rendered page rather than in a form. Every page is stored with its revisions, so clients can change anything and nothing is ever lost.
- Drag-and-drop on the real page
- Revisions as the safety net
- Entrance animations per widget, bundled with the site
The theme builder
The theme builder
Global colours, type, buttons, layout and header style for the public site. A theme kit is a complete starting point; the theme builder changes any part of it with a live preview.
- Kits install from the registry
- Fonts self-hosted by the site
- Header and footer edited like any page
Modules
Modules
Blog, Forms and Performance are modules, not core. Modules are written in Gansey's own small language and declare the permissions they need, which core enforces.
- Models, routes, admin screens, widgets, hooks and jobs
- Installed from the registry, a git URL or a zip
- Switch any module off without losing its data
People and sign-in
People and sign-in
Roles are fully custom, with presets for the usual shapes of team. Sign-in by password with optional two-factor, or by emailed link.
- Custom roles and presets
- Two-factor sign-in
- Emailed sign-in links
Updates and licences
Updates and licences
Hosted with us, Gansey core is free. Self-hosted, core updates are paid for. The rest, including what comes with modules, is still being decided.
- Core is free while we host your site
- Signed downloads, checked before install
- A licence never stops a site running
